BISSE is one of the only inclusive schools in Bahrain offering a pathway through to Post 16, supported by therapy and an individual plan at every stage.
Our Approach
Therapy and education, fully integrated into every school day.
At BISSE, your child does not leave the classroom for therapy and come back to find they have missed a lesson. Therapy is woven into the school day itself. Our multidisciplinary team plans together, teaches together, and reviews progress together, so every hour your child spends at school is working toward the same goals.
Step 1:
Assessment and IEP Development When your child joins BISSE, our full multidisciplinary team assesses their profile, identifies their strengths, and builds a detailed Individualised Education Plan with you. This plan covers academic goals, therapy targets, communication, life skills, and social development.
Step 2:
Integrated Daily Programme Every school day is structured around your child’s IEP. Teachers, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and behaviour therapists work in coordinated sessions. Your child experiences learning and therapy as one connected experience, not two separate things.
Step 3:
Regular Review with Parents Progress is reviewed regularly and parents are genuine partners in the process. We communicate clearly, consistently, and honestly, so you always know where your child is, what they are working toward, and what you can do at home to support them.
Step 4:
Building Toward Independence The goal of everything we do is to develop skills that go beyond the school walls. Life skills, social confidence, communication, and independence are built into every part of the programme, so that each child’s growth generalises into the real world.

Will my child be learning alongside students with very different needs?
At BISSE, students are grouped thoughtfully based on their individual profiles and learning needs, not placed together randomly. Our low ratios mean that every student receives the individual attention their IEP requires, regardless of who else is in the group. Our staff are IBCCES certified and trained to manage diverse learning needs, and our integrated therapy model ensures every child’s specific targets are always being worked on.
Yes. For many of our students, transitioning to a mainstream school environment is a core goal of their IEP from day one. BISSE is purposefully built as a bridge, developing the academic skills, communication, independence, and confidence that make mainstream inclusion possible. We have supported students through this transition and we plan for it actively, not as a distant aspiration but as a structured, measurable goal.
BISSE is a Ministry of Education recognised school, which means we operate as a school and not as a therapy centre or day programme. We are working toward MOE recognition for a formal SPED end-of-school certificate for our graduating students.
